Interviews and News

As the new year is in full swing, I’m looking back at the past month or two and am grateful for the opportunities that popped up to share more of my story and talk about psychology, energy healing and women.

In December, Joanna Chan and I were interviewed on WBAI The Positive Mind radio show in New York City in anticipation of our December 13th womens’ event, Trusting Transition.

We had a small intimate ground of women discussing and sharing their own paths and hopes for moving forward in the New Year.  Through energy healing, intention-setting, discussing needs and values, and guided meditations we all (even Joanna and I!) made shifts to set us up for the fresh energy of 2018.

On the Positive Mind radio show, Joanna and I got to speak more about women in transition, our own personal transitions, and how to confront fears and blocks to change.  We even spoke about how focused intention-setting and groups of women coming together in support of one another can be powerful to elicit changes.  Listen here (part of the audio on the recording gets cut off in the beginning, so to skip that part start at about 3 min in):

Then, on December 31st, I was pleased to debut an interview with my friend and meditation facilitator, Jeff Carreira.  In the discussion, we go in all different directions, speaking about Jeff’s kundalini awakening, my kundalini experience, what starts to happen after kundalini awakens in the body, and what specifically started to unfold for me afterwards.  We also talk more about energy healing and the future of psychology as we start to learn more about and understand these sorts of phenomena as a culture.

The Return of the Light

At this time of the year, with the Winter Solstice behind us and the new year around the corner, we are assured a return of the light.  We’ve lived through the shortest day of the year and have made it past our descent into the dark.  While we are still fully encapsulated in winter, daylight becomes more and more prominent from now until the summer season.

These seasonal cycles were once honored by ancient cultures for the distinct energy they would bring into our lives.  Spring is a time of rebirth, summer is a time of youthful exuberance and planting seeds, fall brings the harvest and decline of the light, and winter is a time of hibernation, contemplation and gathering our strength for the inevitable rebirth.

Cultures, like the ancient Druids and other pagan traditions, who celebrated Solstice and seasonal rites of passage were wise in their recognition of the seasonal cycle as representative of the human narrative as a whole.  There are seasons to our lives, descents and ascents.  There are times for deeper lessons and karmic experiences and times for jubilation, emergence, and a celebration of cycles completed.  As we deepen our winter burrowing, we are in preparation for the the journey back to our rebirth in the Spring.

Don’t Resolve, Manifest in 2017

Happy 2017!

New Years’ resolutions`are a common cornerstone of our experience at this time of year.  It’s like we feel naked without them.  They are a placeholder to hang our hats and say we’re starting anew, completely fresh.  We’ve gotten through the tough spots last year (we’re over it), and we’re ready to greet the new year with action and vigor.

The problem is our resolutions quickly lose steam by winter’s end, and self-criticism takes up residence.  While there are no perfect formulas for creating and attracting the changes you desire in your life, the idea of manifestation and allowing goodness to flow into our lives, rather than resolving and “making it happen,” is more aligned with creating desires that actually show up and stick in our physical lives.  Manifestation has become a big buzzword in New-Age circles thanks to books like The Secret, but what is commonly misunderstood about manifestation is that things don’t magically appear from midair through intent alone.   Rather, it is a process of continually coming into greater and greater alignment with the things that you desire and signaling to the Universe your persistence and strength in your belief that they are already flowing to you at all moments in time.

I find that the better I get at allowing rather than doing, my path to manifestation becomes clearer and clearer.  Seeming “coincidences” appear that push me down the right path, even if I never knew that path was available.  It still never happens with a snap of the fingers.  The process requires that I constantly bring myself back to a place of inner stillness, clear away old fear beliefs (that seem to be a bottomless pit) of not being worthy of or able to receive the biggest things that I want, and reassess what it is that I actually want or why I am “striving” for it.

Here’s what I have learned so far about manifestation….
